August 1st, 2 days after the Apocalypse

Tue Aug 1, 2006, 8:44 AM
So I had my 21st birthday this past weekend. I officially turned 21 Sunday, so what did we do? We hit the bars at midnight, exactly. 5 friends went out with me and, as far as I know, all of them came back, it's the aftermath of drinking something along the lines of 15 shots in 1/2 hour that got to me.

There was a lot of bowing on my part that night, in fact I don't think I've ever been so religious in my entire life, and I don't ever want to be again.

So, all in all, 2 days later I am no longer hungover (yes ALL day yesterday (monday) I was still hung over). I have learned the valuable lesson of not imbibing to much to quickly. So that's lots of fun.

In other news though there are 2 things that appear to be looming on my horizon. A trip to Florida, that's the good news, the funeral that I'll be going for is not such good news. My grandfather is dying, at least that's what it sounds like is happening. It's serious enough for my mom to be taking an emergency flight down there at the as crack of dawn tomorrow, and there is the sneaking suspicion that my dad, my brother and I will be soon following her.

It's kind of weird, I really don't feel upset about this whole thing. True it hasn't happened yet, but I dont' think there's going to many tears from here, mainly because I never really knew my grandfather, he lived 2000 miles away from me, I saw him at best every other year, and he scared me. He's been slowly slipping from us ever since grandma died, about 10 years ago, and it's been mainly due to Alzheimer's. He hasn't recognized me in at least 5 years. And I think it was then that he died to me, my mom it took a little bit longer, but the great mind that used to reside in my grandfather left a long time ago, leaving only a shell that keeps going and going.

I don't have anything more to say, so I'm not going to.

ps Please keep my mom and my Grandfather in your prayers. It would be much appreciated
